The story of our success

2010 marks an important year in the history of our company. The reason: the Group of companies changes its name to pfm medical and integrates all associated subsidiary companies under one brand. For the first time ever, all subsidiaries and sales offices appear under a single brand: pfm medical. Following a market relaunch in summer 2010, pfm medical has done more than a mere change of its appearance. Its new Internet presence provides customers and partners with an optimum level of information and transparency, particularly with respect to the product range.

Takeover of 100% of pfm medical gfe ag (formerly GfE Medical AG). Both companies have worked together since 2007. This takeover signifies the consistent expansion of pfm medical’s competencies with the addition of the promising field of nanotechnological coating processes.

pfm medical france is founded.

pfm medical uk is founded.

One of the most modern sterilisation plants in Europe is brought into service by the newly founded company msg GmbH – now pfm medical msg gmbh.

With the establishment of pfm medical h+h, pfm medical give a clear sign to the market regarding services that can be delegated.

Applica GmbH (now pfm medical tpm gmbh) is founded. It specialises in consultation-intensive therapies in non-clinical settings.

In order to meet medical demands, the Campus company – including its technology for the production of nitinol stents – is purchased.

With the acquisition of endotech GmbH, pfm medical further expands its competencies in out-patient (surgery-based) care and the associated prescription management.

pfm medical becomes majority shareholder of CPP SA in Switzerland, a long-standing and reliable supplier.

Jürgen Wolter becomes chair of the supervisory board. Aurel Schoeller leaves the board to become CEO and assumes leadership of pfm medical ag as a member of the owner family.

Pfm medical, Inc. is founded in the USA and pfm medical asia pacific in Malaysia.

pfm medical becomes a public limited company. Jürgen Wolter is chief executive officer (CEO), and Jochen Schnadt is chair of the supervisory board. As a public limited company, pfm medical can access greater financial resources and increase investment in the areas of production and development.

The pfm medical ag Beijing Representative Office is opened in China.

pfm medical sets up a registered office in Slovenia.

New warehouse facilities are built in Cologne with 2,500 additional pallet spaces.

In order to reflect the extended product portfolio, the company changes its name to pfm Produkte für die Medizin on 21 January 1992. The office building in Cologne is expanded.

In Austria, mpö GmbH is established as a distributor of medical products. Shareholders are mpm (Peter Seidel), pfm medical and Dietmar Karner (managing partner). mpö GmbH sells single-use medical products.

Jürgen Wolter becomes the sole partner and continues to manage the company on his own.

The company enjoys steady success. In order to continue providing competent, comprehensive and fast service to its costumers, pfm medical relocates to the Cologne district of Rodenkirchen. On 13 May 1983, the company moves to a newly built office building connected to a large warehouse. Modern electronic data processing and optimised logistics processes reduce the need for different distribution centres.

A year later, pfm medical mepro gmbh also relocates and moves to its own site with a purpose-built factory building in northern Saarland. At the time, this was the most modern clean room production facility for medical products in Germany.

pfm medical cpp is founded.

mepro gmbh (now pfm medical mepro) in Nonnweiler-Otzenhausen is set up.

As an established trading company, its focus now shifts to development and production, allowing pfm medical to respond more quickly to specific customer requirements.

This is where specialists in single-use medical products develop and produce specialist products – on the basis of pfm medical’s expertise acquired over many years and in cooperation with medical specialists working in research and surgeries.

On 23 December 1971, the day before Christmas Eve, Jürgen Wolter and Peter Dahlhausen found pfm Plastik für die Medizin GmbH. As pioneers, they are the first to offer single-use products made from plastic.

From the very first hour, it was clear to the then managing director: all products have to comply with the most stringent of quality requirements. For that reason, clean room production or GMP-compliant production have been the standard from the beginning. To this day, this principle remains at the base of pfm medical’s lasting success.

pfm medical’s initial focus was on distribution. The company is the exclusive distributor of first-class products by renowned manufacturers which were to become market leaders in subsequent years. These include FEATHER® Safety Razor (Japan) and UnoPlast (Denmark, now ConvaTec). In the years that follow, pfm medical becomes the sole agent for KAI (Japan), dansac and Surgimed (both from Denmark), Porgès (France) and CPP (now pfm medical cpp, Switzerland) and others.

pfm medical sets up its own distribution offices and strengthens its cooperation with expert advisers from the field of medicine. These include Dispo GmbH in Peine, mpm GmbH in Munich and GLV in Nussloch. This makes it possible to intensify customer-supplier relations even further.
