(Latin: "per" - through & "cutis" - skin) transluminal valvuloplastyValvuloplasty refers to the dilation of constricted heart valves with a balloon. This is done by advancing a catheter through blood vessels to the constricted site and insufflating the catheter until the constriction is “blasted open”. (PTV) and pre-dilatation in transcatheter heart-valve replacement procedures. The extremely low profile is compatible with the smallest introducer systems. The balloon is very slim with a correspondingly flexible catheter tip.
