Innovative pfm Forceps win design award
The new electronic, wirelessly heated pfm Forceps EWF 600 have won the renowned Red Dot Design Award in two categories: ‘Red Dot Design Product’ and ‘Innovative Products’.
The forceps are a brand-new addition to the pfm medical portfolio. They were officially unveiled at the Bamberg Morphology Days in January of this year. The forceps offer a customer-friendly solution in the familiar pfm medical design with their wireless Bluetooth transmission of the temperature setting. In addition to the innovative concept that impressed the professional audience, the forceps now also scored with their innovative design.
The new product received the coveted prize in not one, but two categories. ‘We are very proud and thrilled to have received the awards’, said Erwin Schneider, Vice President of Feather Brand Histotechnology & Surgical and Managing Director of pfm medical tec. ‘We are aware that this is a very special honour’, added Schneider, who, together with Steffen Kraus, Managing Director of pfm medical tec, is responsible for the design. ‘It is an acknowledgment of our efforts to combine modern, premium technologies with convenient handling – and all this in an excellent design.’
Red Dot: a coveted quality seal recognised around the globe
The Red Dot Design Award jury selects the best design products worldwide every year. ‘Red Dot’ has established itself internationally as one of the most sought-after quality seals for good design. New this year was the ‘Innovative Products’ category, which recognises products that are particularly smart or innovative. No direct applications were accepted for this category; instead, the jury itself selected suitable entries.
The products that won the Red Dot Design Award will be featured in the ‘Design on Stage’ exhibition in the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen, Germany, until May 2021. The Red Dot Design Museums inspire visitors around the globe with their exhibitions on current design, with all exhibits having received a Red Dot Award. In addition to the museum exhibition, the forceps have also been included in an online exhibition, where all winning products of the current competition are presented to the international public for about one year. The forceps are also shown in the Red Dot Design Yearbook 2020/21. The yearbooks of the world-famous Red Dot Award have been among the international standard works for excellent design for many years.
