pfm medical gmbh acquires a majority stake in ClearCut Medical Ltd., further expanding its leadership in innovation in tumor surgery
06/24/2026
pfmmedical announces the acquisition of a majority stake in its long-standing Israeli partner, ClearCut. With this move, the medium-sized family-owned company headquartered in Cologne is strengthening a partnership that has grown over the years and sending a clear signal of its commitment to further expanding its innovation portfolio. pfmmedical had previously invested $2 million in ClearCut as part of the B-5 financing round.
Throughout their partnership to date, pfmmedical has supported the launch of the innovative ClearCoast™ devices for intraoperative margin assessment in the European market. Following successful clinical trials at renowned institutions in Germany and England, the next step is now underway: the widespread marketing of the systems and their associated consumables. ClearCoast™ technology allows operators to verify, even during the procedure, whether the tumor tissue has been completely removed. This makes it possible to reduce the number of follow-up procedures required and significantly improve the quality of care for female patients. The positive results of the studies have already been published on several occasions and confirmed by leading experts in the field, including Prof. Dr. med. Marc Thill, Head of the Department of Gynaecology and Obstetrics at the Agaplesion Markus Hospital in Frankfurt.
Shaping the future by innovation
„With this majority stake, we are specifically strengthening our strategic focus on bringing innovative technologies into clinical practice more quickly,” explains Aurel Schoeller, President, regarding the move. „The clinical results to date and feedback from clinical practice clearly demonstrate the potential of ClearCoast™ technology. Our aim is to further develop existing standards in tumor surgery and to play a key role in driving progress forward“, Schoeller continued.
Technology for intraoperative margin assessment will play a key role in pfmmedical’s surgical and diagnostic product portfolio in future, and will, in particular, complement the existing range of titanium-coated meshes in the field of breast reconstruction. Overall, the company is thus further expanding its position as an independent partner in the healthcare sector and strengthening its comprehensive range of devices, implants and consumables – with the clear aim of improving patients’ quality of life.
