New disposable infusion pump TUORen Soft Shell: Greater comfort and flexibility during treatment

Greater comfort for patients, and greater flexibility in day-to-day medical practice: With its new disposable infusion pump TUORen Soft Shell, pfm medical is expanding its product range to include a model with a soft case. The new product will be unveiled for the first time at the 16th Congress of the German Society for Palliative Medicine (DGP) in Freiburg.

The TUORen disposable infusion pumps have been specially developed for patients who require intravenousIntravenous (from the Latin "intra" (inner, inside) and "vena" (vein)) refers, e.g., to the administration of a medication via a vein., percutaneousPercutaneous means “performed through the skin”. (Latin: "per" - through & "cutis" - skin), subcutaneous, intraoperative or epidural drug therapy. Their range of applications extends from pain management (analgesics) through to chemotherapeutic agents, antibiotics and antiviral medicines, right through to infusion solutions for rehydration. 

The operating principle is based on a precisely calibrated reservoir for medicines or liquids. The liquid is dispensed in a controlled manner at a defined flow rate via a flow restrictor, driven solely by the mechanical pressure of the reservoir – without the need for batteries or external power sources.

TUORen Soft Shell: Further development for a noticeably better quality of life

In addition to the well-established TUORen Hard Shell, the TUORen Soft Shell will in future be available as an innovative variant with a soft case, specifically designed to meet the needs of patients and healthcare professionals.

“The soft case and the continuous reduction in volume of the disposable infusion pump during treatment ensure it is comfortable to wear and enhance patient comfort throughout the entire course of treatment,” says Caroline Scheidt, Product Manager Infusion Systems, explaining the advantages of the new product. Thanks to its soft case, the product is less bulky and becomes progressively smaller and lighter during treatment as its volume is continuously reduced. This helps to ensure greater comfort throughout the entire course of treatment.
